Consultancy Services Unit

 The Consultancy Unit of the University of Abuja came into being in January 1992. The decision to set up the Unit followed the realization by the University early in its infancy of the need to establish such an outfit to serve the immediate community in which the University was established as well as to provide avenue for generating revenue to the University. This is necessary as emphasis was placed on the need for Universities to generate adequate revenue to fund a large percentage of their capital and recurrent expenditure. The consultancy Services Unit started operation on January 20, 1992 with a mandate to:

1 Make available technical, scientific, professional and other expertise services to all levels of Government, parastatals, the private sector and the International organizations.

2  Contribute to the financial resources of the University and to offer avenues for legitimate earnings for the University staff.

3  Create opportunities for academic staff to undertake projects relevant to the immediate community.

4  Undertake, from time to time, any other function that may be prescribed by the University.

In essence, therefore, the consultancy services was set up to play a dual role of enhancing the relevance of the University of Abuja to the immediate community by providing its services to the people and in  the process was also expected to generate revenue to the University in order to augment the meager funds received from the Government.
