The faculty of Science is one of the foundation faculties in the University in the 1990/1991 session with Prof A.A. Olatunde as the foundation Dean. When the Collegiate system was introduced in 1994, the faculty was merged with Agriculture to form the College of Science and Agriculture, but in 1999, the Faculty of Science was re-introduced following the abrogation of the Collegiate system.
