The Faculty of Arts was established in 1992 at the inception of the University in the 1990/1991 Academic Session. It was part of Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences. In 1996, the collegiate system was introduced and the Faculty was again merged with Education to become the College of Arts and Education. in 1999, the University of Abuja reverted to the Faculty system, and at present, the Faculty or Arts runs five departments.
