FACULTIES

The University operates the faculty system. A Dean currently heads a Faculty, which is made up of related Departments. Each Faculty has its Management Committee, referred to as “Standing Committee”, comprising the Dean (as Chairman), Deputy Dean, Professors, Associate Professors/Readers and Heads of Department. A Faculty also has its Board of Studies made up of the Dean (as Chairman), all academic staff of the Faculty and a representative from each of the other Faculties and the Library. The Dean oversees the Heads of Departments, while the Senate scrutinizes the academic activities such as curriculum development/modification and examination.

 A department is the basic administrative unit of the University and a head administers it. Academic programmes are domiciled in academic departments, which ensure that students are taught and examined in accordance with the approved curricula.
